So I’ve been getting emails asking for link exchange requests and I’m sure many of you have to.

I recently got this one: I’ve blanked out the company’s URL and identifying info so they don’t get slapped with a penalty, even though they deserve it for sending out this garbage link request.

After the email I write what they should have done differently.

• NO. You won’t get a link.
• NO, you won’t hear from me soon.
• NO, I don’t want a link from your site.
• YES you should fire your link builder ASAP

First of all, address me by name. All you had to do was go to our about us and you would have had my first and last name.

This would have at least shown you cared and might of impressed other sites to give you a second look and possibly take you up on your offer.

Then you go on to say you visited my site and found some ‘interesting’ information. Well, really, what was it, why don’t you specify. My site is full of information, what did you find interesting?

This is a clear and transparent attempt at @ss kissing and just tweaked me even more at how lame it was.

So you want a link from my homepage… hmmm… did you bother to look at the homepage and notice I don’t link to ANY non-related sites, no ofcourse you didn’t, because you’re using some automated link building tool and didn’t bother to put your brain into the process.

Listen, don’t tell me where or how to link to your site without first getting to know me and having a conversation. Nothing bugs me more than a lame email that doesn’t even try to have a conversation with me before asking me to link to you.

Consider hiring any number of good link builders such as EricWard.com (or us or using the software Eric helped create called Link Insight which you can learn more about at Adgooroo.com I’ve never used Adgooroo.com but if Eric is involved in it, I don’t need to in order to recommend it.

I also like Buzzstream.com which I have used and like alot.
